When our Bob Thissen visited Gaya Land in Gimhae, South Korea, it was an eerie abandoned amusement park. It closed in November 2011 due lack of visitors, only to reopen again in 2017.
Some areas of the amusement park were so overgrown you couldn’t get close to the attractions. Scattered around the park you could find a variety of illegal Disney figures. A few weeks after Bob’s visit partial demolition of Gaya Land began.
The former theme park looked like something from an apocalyptic film. A spooky children’s swing ride on a rusty, dirty steel sheet base.
The park, which closed in 2011, reopened under new management on April 2, 2016. Now, all facilities have been refurbished and all rides are once again running.
